Here is a quick story found on YouTube. A photographer purchased a lens, and when the package arrived, it turned out to be a box of staples.
Although this is a case from Canada, Daily Scam Watch would not classify this as a scam, but rather as a theft. From the facts presented in the video, it does not appear that the seller of the lens did anything in an attempt to cheat or victimize the purchaser. Rather, it appears that the thief was at work in the carrier or shipper’s operation.
Daily Scam Watch opines that the victim is the seller, since the buyer was refunded her purchase money. There is good advice in the video – for expensive purchases, it often makes sense to complete the transaction in person.
